HERE’S YOUR CHANCE!

My health and happiness are at risk. This is serious.

I need this. I don’t have it yet. My other six season boxes are lonely.

My Christmas and birthday money disappeared in the frenzy of my one annual week of partying (this is why I did not want Max to have a December birthday!). Don’t worry, lots of it went for seasons 1, 5, and 6.

Feel free to send your donations for this worthy cause to: The Addict / 7 Gilmore Lane / Time Eaters, USA.

WEEK OF SOUL DISCOVERIES

First it was my shoes. More for how they look than how they feel (I’m female, so that’s how it goes!). Then it was Trevor’s shoes, which as soon as he tried them on he knew they were meant for him. And now, it is pizza.

We discovered my soul pizza at Pizza Hut (or I should say from pizzahut.com, since we never left the house) on Friday evening. Wow. After a lifetime of searching, here is how it goes:

  • Regular crust
  • Extra sauce
  • Easy on the cheese
  • Chicken
  • Peppers
  • Onions
  • Pineapple

And that, my friends, is a PIZZA. I have eaten it semi-cold and semi-for-breakfast. I never do that. It was yummy.

HAPPY MY BIRTHDAY

If I had known being 23 is so awesome, I would have turned it a long time ago!

My wish this year will come true. I decided it has no choice in the matter :)

Trevor spent quite a few hours today with Max so that I could sleep, shower and have time to actually feel cute for once. It was really nice! We knew I was getting beyond the acceptable limits of sleep-deprived because during the night I thought that Max was fussing and I kept trying to put his pacifier in his mouth, except then I woke up to realize that what I was actually doing was standing up straight next to his bed, holding my hand way out in front of me and repeatedly jabbing the pacifier at the air near the wall. I had definitely fallen asleep on my way to the crib, standing up. I think it really needs to be time for him to start sleeping longer at night!

And this is me today, thinking, welp, I love being 23! Life is pretty much grand.

I NEVER DID WIN A GAME OF TAG

So, I got tagged by multiple people for this right before Max was born, and never followed through on posting my six things. Kinda busy. So now I am finally getting around to it!

A. The rules are posted at the beginning.

B. Each player lists six little-known things about themselves.

C. At the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment letting them know that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog for the details.

Okay here are my six things:

1. I used to really really want to be a storm chaser. Then I discovered my heart’s calling in publication design and so never followed through, but man, running down tornadoes would have been C-O-O-L.

2. True confession, I cannot function without ziploc bags and paper towels. They are an addiction and I go through them much more quickly than our wallet would probably say that I should.

3. Small anecdote: In eighth grade my tech-ed teacher gave me this little prism trinket thing at the end of the year. I’d never really been one of the more actively involved or outspoken kids in the class so I wasn’t sure what he wanted when he called me in. He told me it was a gift for me because he knew I was “a member of the Mormon church” and he said he had dated a Mormon girl once and she was a good person, and he had noticed that I was a good person too. This seemed very random to me and a surprise, but of all the little things I’ve thrown away over the years, I still have this one. And I run across it every few months. So I guess it meant something to me.

4. Another slightly more interesting anecdote: There was this one time, in fifth grade, when we had two groups of people at recess. Looking back on it I’m not sure who was really in charge, but I think I imagined myself the ringleader of my group (which makes no sense because I was so shy). Anyway one day both groups wanted the kickball field at the same time (heaven forbid we play together!). I picked a fight with the leader of the other group. I pulled her hair and she dragged me through the mud (quite literally, I think she was like six feet tall). And then I cried but only because she’d ruined my new shorts. You have to understand that getting to wear shorts to school was a VERY big deal for me as I’d been fighting that battle with my parents - who, yes, went to school when girls had to wear dresses! - for years. I’d just gotten a new pair that were white and blue striped and I was so sad they got ruined. I never got to wear them again. I think I stopped picking fights after that.

5. I do not eat gravy. Ew. (Neither does Trevor, which is how I knew we were meant to be!)

6. I would love to be one of those people who spends every day sitting in a city cafe by the window, drinking my hot chocolate and writing stories and ideas in my notebook. However, my more important priorities ensure this will never happen. At minimum I still hope to someday carry a notebook around with me everywhere. Ever since I read Harriet the Spy so many years ago, I’ve wanted that. It’s a habit I’ve never managed to develop but I think the people who do stick with it are so smart! And it’s vaguely romantic in the aforementioned city cafe sort of way…

As for who I tag… since I waited so long and this thing has been cruising around the blogosphere, everybody and their dog’s mom seems to have already done it! So, I’m not tagging anyone. The buck stops here.

GOOD MORNING!

max-074.jpg

Waking up to a happy baby is my favorite thing!

max-080.jpg

He is almost six weeks old! When did that happen??

Updated pictures are here. Pictures 18 and forward are new.

I DIDN’T EVEN NOTICE THIS UNTIL TODAY

[I think that means I fail at being observant, not a good thing for an advertising major.]

I am almost more excited for the completion of this tomorrow than I am for Trevor to open his secret presents!

Note if you change the number at the end of the URL you can view past doodles. I like this one the best.

ANOTHER TIME PICTURE

Ha ha ha. I love the two on the right !!

BE EXCITED

I decided I am getting these for my birthday:

I found them at Sports Authority, accidentally at first I thought, but no - it must have been fate that brought me to my soul shoes!

CHRISTMAS?

Today outside my window:

Yellow. Bright bright blue. Palm trees.

I am having a hard time with this.

GROWING

We took Max to the doctor’s office on Wednesday. They have cool rooms decorated with movie characters!

nov-30-008.jpg

Bad news, he does have reflux as suspected. Hopeful news (I won’t call it good because he’s now pumped full of all sorts of medicines), maybe he’ll start to improve within two weeks. Interesting news, he now weighs 7 lbs 14 oz.! The kid eats every time like you’d think he’d never eaten before! He is gaining weight almost twice as fast as is typical, so whether he is just playing catch-up or just doesn’t know when to stop eating (can we say he gets that from his mother?), say hello to tough little Mr. Doublechin!

max-029.jpg

For Christmas we bought him a bouncy seat (maybe more for my sanity than for him!) and the book Where the Wild Things Are. My dad mentioned this book and we decided it is perfect for him. The character’s name is Max, and it’s about an exciting adventure in his imagination! I am so excited for him to experience life, it is just beyond my comprehension. I prayed so much for him to come and be so excited about his life, and then he was so excited he came early! And now I can’t imagine if he had just been born because he’s so far beyond that and I feel like he just got a great head start. I can hardly wait for him to start talking, to find out what great things will go on inside his mind. So the book is to inspire his adventures!

Oh and one more thing…

max-038.jpg

Today is my parent’s anniversary. Happy Anniversary! I’m happy you oldies have had 24 chaotically wonderful years together :) And I can say that cause we all know you’re not old…
