So, I got tagged by multiple people for this right before Max was born, and never followed through on posting my six things. Kinda busy. So now I am finally getting around to it!
A. The rules are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player lists six little-known things about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment letting them know that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog for the details.
Okay here are my six things:
1. I used to really really want to be a storm chaser. Then I discovered my heart’s calling in publication design and so never followed through, but man, running down tornadoes would have been C-O-O-L.
2. True confession, I cannot function without ziploc bags and paper towels. They are an addiction and I go through them much more quickly than our wallet would probably say that I should.
3. Small anecdote: In eighth grade my tech-ed teacher gave me this little prism trinket thing at the end of the year. I’d never really been one of the more actively involved or outspoken kids in the class so I wasn’t sure what he wanted when he called me in. He told me it was a gift for me because he knew I was “a member of the Mormon church” and he said he had dated a Mormon girl once and she was a good person, and he had noticed that I was a good person too. This seemed very random to me and a surprise, but of all the little things I’ve thrown away over the years, I still have this one. And I run across it every few months. So I guess it meant something to me.
4. Another slightly more interesting anecdote: There was this one time, in fifth grade, when we had two groups of people at recess. Looking back on it I’m not sure who was really in charge, but I think I imagined myself the ringleader of my group (which makes no sense because I was so shy). Anyway one day both groups wanted the kickball field at the same time (heaven forbid we play together!). I picked a fight with the leader of the other group. I pulled her hair and she dragged me through the mud (quite literally, I think she was like six feet tall). And then I cried but only because she’d ruined my new shorts. You have to understand that getting to wear shorts to school was a VERY big deal for me as I’d been fighting that battle with my parents - who, yes, went to school when girls had to wear dresses! - for years. I’d just gotten a new pair that were white and blue striped and I was so sad they got ruined. I never got to wear them again. I think I stopped picking fights after that.
5. I do not eat gravy. Ew. (Neither does Trevor, which is how I knew we were meant to be!)
6. I would love to be one of those people who spends every day sitting in a city cafe by the window, drinking my hot chocolate and writing stories and ideas in my notebook. However, my more important priorities ensure this will never happen. At minimum I still hope to someday carry a notebook around with me everywhere. Ever since I read Harriet the Spy so many years ago, I’ve wanted that. It’s a habit I’ve never managed to develop but I think the people who do stick with it are so smart! And it’s vaguely romantic in the aforementioned city cafe sort of way…
As for who I tag… since I waited so long and this thing has been cruising around the blogosphere, everybody and their dog’s mom seems to have already done it! So, I’m not tagging anyone. The buck stops here.
